Poker straight, sleek & smooth, bold and bouncy – no matter the finish, it not only comes down to the products you use but where you put them. Master the ultimate ‘salon only’ blow-out with this simple and effective guide & edit!
I’ve been a faithful user of the very famous, award-winning Parlux 3500 for years now. On the recent release of the NEW Parlux 3800 Ceramic & Ionic Hair Dryer I decided to make a change and upgrade from my 6yr old dryer. Turning green, this eco-friendly, super light weight dryer packs a silent yet violent punch when put to work. With a considerably stronger motor and silencer to help reduce noise, hair is never left dry or dehydrated due to it’s Ionic & Ceramic technologies. With 8 shades to choose from there is no need to hide this little beauty in the cupboard rather left out on display for all to see.
Minimum effort maximum effect is what I look for when I’m choosing a product to pump up the volume and hold at the roots of even the most stubborn of hair when blow-drying! Sachajuan Strong hold Root Lift has a precise spray nozzle allowing me to get product constantly deep into the roots before activating with heat. A watery, textured spray – which on contact, quickly gives hair grit and hold. Use a round brush to create an airy-volume or use your fingers to lift the hair up and away from the scalp for a more texture lift. Tip; Blast each section at the roots with cold air from your dryer to set volume in place!
A game changing, backstage ‘miracle powder’ that maximises volume & texture no mater how limp the hair type. The lightweight particles wrap and coat the root of each shaft forcing hair to stand tall and fast – with little to no effort. Simply sprinkle through the roots – particularly through the part-line and crown before massaging through with your fingers or a backcombing brush for a sexy, matte-finish bounce! Tip; Brush through the mid-lengths and ends for texture & hold replacing the need for a dry shampoo! Life will never be the same again!
People with fine or flat hair types are not the only ones that struggle in the blow-dry department. Strengthen, smooth and protect coarse, curly, or dryer hair types that break or frizz-out under heat with Redkens Diamond Oil Shatterproof Shine Intense. This lightweight oil coats and penetrates the hair shaft to not only strengthen but soften the hair allowing it to move and flow more freely. Not to be ruled out when it comes to normal or finer hair types that also suffer dry ends – just simply use less and concentrate it to the ends! Tip; Less is always more, no matter the hair type. You can always apply more when you’re done. Warm the product between your fingers before raking through the mid-lengths and ends of damp hair. Remember oil travels so no need to do the roots – it will make it’s way up there in it’s own time.
One of my favourite go-to round bristle brushes for blow-drying for the simple fact it helps control blow-dry frizz or flyways with it’s ceramic barrel. That, and the tensing I can get between the perfectly spaced bristles of the brush and the hair without snagging. Tip; Take a small section and start as close to the roots as you can. To maximise volume and a soft bend, roll the hair around the brush from roots to ends – while still hot – and blast with cold air, freezing the shape into the hair shaft- before releasing.
No matter your hair type or the Season, always set and finish your style with a good anti-humidity spray that has a flexible hold. I always use Oribe’s Impermeable Anti-Humidity Spray as it not only locks out moisture and contains frizz but has a build-able hold that I can brush out and reset throughout the day or as needed! You know I love a double-threat!
