Come behind the scenes as we create the signature hair & makeup look of Fame & Partner’s latest international campaign with Australian supermodel and eyebrow icon Bambi.
The team at Fame and Partners and I wanted to continue the same fun, beautiful energy that is F&P but at the same time capture Bambi’s ultra cool, yet un-done style when designing the hair and makeup look that was to go with the campaign.
With such a wide range of colours and textures that run through the new collection ‘Make a Statement‘ it was really important that the final hair and makeup look brought the collection together, finishing it off in a way that it compliments the range, without competing with it! When working with such a strong collection of pieces – like wearing one of the pieces- the decision in choosing a hair and makeup look needs to be kept simple and chic.
It goes without saying Bambi’s signature Brooke Shields-like brows are one of the key features of her look, which we definitely wanted to work with, but we also really wanted to enhance the warm tones in her skin giving her a glow that made us think of mid-Summer, tropical sunset! Dewy skin, bronze-toned eyes with accents of gold and youthful pink stained-like lips. The formula is fresh and simple yet strong and chic!
Hair couldn’t have been a easier decision! I think I can safely say we were all on the same page. It had been looking at us all year. It was the hair style that Gigi Hadid, Cara Delavigne, Kendel Jenner, Suki Waterhouse and Rose Huntington had all nearly broken the internet with in 2015! The wet-dry look! What works is the simplicity! It’s clean, sharp, defined and allows your face and outfit to be the centre of attention!
It’s about making a statement without looking like you tried!
Recreate Bambi’s Hair & Makeup Look…
Prep & Prime
Prep the skin with a instant hydrating moisturiser that is as light as a feather on the skin surface so to allow the foundation to not only glide over the skin’s surface with little to no effort but blend into the skin making the skin and the foundation become one. I used La Mer’s Moisturising Lotion and Giorgio Armani’s Luminous Silk Foundation. Tip; To give your over-all complexion that extra spark try adding a pea size amount of Charlotte Tilbury’s Wonder Glow -a golden-beige liquid luminizer- into your foundation before applying!
Highlight & Contour
It was one of the industry’s best kept secrets and without a doubt one of the biggest makeup phenomenons of 2015 -and for good reason! Sculpt the contours of your face like your cheekbones, under your jawline and around the edges of your forehead including your temples with the bronzer in Charlotte Tilbury’s Bronze and Glow. Highlight or emphasize all the spots where light would naturally catch on the face, like the top of the cheekbones, ridge of the nose and even the cupids bow of the top lip using the golden illuminator in the other side of the Bronze and Glow Palette. Tip; Use a soft Fan Brush to delicately dust the product over the skin’s surface.
Eye Bow Game
The key feature to Bambi’s look not, to mention one of the most defining features of any woman’s face, is the brow! Filled in correctly the brow can give your face and eyes a mini lift. Start by brushing the brows up to define the natural brow shape then start filing in all the gaps with a eye brow shadow around 1-2 shade lighter than your natural brow colour. I used Alison Jade Brow Palette to fill and define Bambi’s brows and set with their Clear Eye Brow Gel. Note; To learn the 3 crucial points of the perfect brow and how to give your face and eye a mini lift click HERE for my full step-by-step how to!
Eye See You
The key to not over doing the eye when the brow is your focus is to choose a colour that compliments or enhances your eye colour, gives the eye just enough shape but without looking like it’s there. In this case I used Kat Von D’s Eyeshadow Palette and blended Wrath – a warm chestnut orange shadow- around the lash line and into the contour of the eye. To highlight I used Summerfly – a gold metallic shadow- into the inner corners of the eyes and temple to make the eye pop! To finish… I curled Bambi’s lashes and double coated with They’re Real Mascara.
Lip stains are one of the hottest trends for Spring/Summer ’15/16 and as such there are now many options and finishes to choose from. I’m obsessed with Ellis Faas Hot Lips. What I love about these lip colours is the versatility I have in layering them up to be warn as a full coverage lipstick or blending it into the lip so it can be worn as a full coloured, creamy finished stain. I used Hot lips shade L408 or better known as Baby Pink to stain Bambi’s lips. Tip; Dab it directly onto the lips using the sponge tip of the bullet-like pen.
Red Carpet Body Glow
No look is complete without bringing a little attention to enhancing the skin on the body parts that are exposed in your new Fame & Partners outfit. It’s the perfect accessory and the final touch to every look. It’s this attention to detail that will separate you from the rest. I prepped Bambi’s Skin with Jergens BB Body Cream – a lightly luminous moisturiser that evens the skin’s texture. To finish I highlighted Bambi’s limbs with Red Carpet Kolour in Light to not only give her skin that ultimate glow but to create a look of length with the long beams of light that a shimmer creates.
Once you decide on your part-line or if any, mix equal parts of Sachajuan Styling Wax – a medium hold shiny finish wax- and Oribe’s Cream for Styling– a light hold styling cream- and comb from roots to ends. The Wax gives the hair definition and hold and the styling cream thickens the hair and stops the wax from drying or breaking apart and going fluffy. Too easy!
In any case – both Bambi, myself the team at Fame & Partners and the rest of the amazing team are super proud of what we produced and hope that you love it to!
