Do you have psychic ability? Do you see dead people? Do you know who will call before the phone will even ring? Chances are, you’re a ‘purple’ girl.
Welcome to our final and most spiritual colour of the week… magical mauve. This is the hue to let your inner shaman shine and bring you closer to the Universe through esoteric adventures.
Lilac tones are set to help you unleash your free spirit – is it any wonder that amethyst is the reigning crystal of soothe sayers, healers and Tarot-splaying tantricas?
If you want to get more intuitive and psychic – or at least become more interested in spiritual growth – plum tones are your passage to the other side.
This article will help if you’ve been looking for the meaning of life 😉
I love the colour purple because it’s actually very rare in nature, so as a result has taken on a sacred meaning. While the whole purple palette helps align us to the higher realms, different tones do mean different things. Light purple hues represent feminine energy and delicacy, as well as romantic and nostalgic feelings. Lavender is actually considered the “grown-up” pink. Dark purple hues evoke feelings of gloom – so my recommendation is to make sure you dress it up or accessories it with some fierce to lift the mood around it. Bright purple hues are fabulous however, suggesting riches and royalty.
‘Too much of anything is not good for you baby ‘ purple included. It brings out qualities of irritability, impatience and arrogance. That is how I personally feel when I see those ladies in my crystal shop donning purple from head to toe. Too little of grape goodness isn’t good either, as a lack of lilac in your life brings on feelings of powerlessness, negativity, and apathy. No thanks!
Because the purple hue is created by combining a strong warm with a strong cool colour, it retains both warm and cool properties – which could be perfect for helping find love. Purple or violet gemstones (and eyeshadow shades of course) are believed to increase your imagination, remove perceived spiritual obstacles, calm confrontations, and re-energise the learning of new things. Purple is amazing for helping you meditate better – this shade is like a direct line to another realm! Purple helps you be open to other cultures and manifest more travel in your life. In short, you’ll transform into a free-spirit and fly away somewhere warm and wonderful.
In make up, purple has a strong 70’s influence (no surprises there) and makes brown eyes lighter and brighter by bringing out green tones in all eye shades. Purple also brightens yellow toned skins when worn on the lips and one of my personal favourite is to contour with purple or a mauve blush to brighten and add depth to dark or olive skins that traditional bronzers otherwise dirty or dull.
Purple was also the theme colour for Prince – the end.
If you’re a fully fledged purple girl, you’re a visionary, with high ambitions, dreams and desires, and a compulsion to help humanity and to improve the planet earth (you’re also always late, but that’s another matter)… And if you’re not, simply follow my lead below. Some may say, you’re a dreamer…
Great for warmer and darker skin tones – think Joan Smalls. Estee Lauders Pure Color Vivid Lipsticks has a soft sheen finish to make lips look 3D-plump and a long lasting thickening pigment to improve hold and intensity of colour. LUSH.

This deep burgundy applies with a very slight sheen -it’s just enough to keep the colour from going completely matte, without adding actual shimmer. Your skin looks glowing and alive! It’s a perfect contour shade that lifts and brightens olive or darker skin tones that bronzes can often make look dull, dirty or ashy.
This is the street-ready mascara option if you want a hit of fun colour on the lashes without breaking the bank. Sephora has a similar formula to the luxury brands to create volume with an amazing brush for separation/faux lash effects. The colour is consistent and doesn’t flake like most colour mascaras, either. It’s a great option for those that have dark eyes and want to make them look lighter and brighter- or for those that are afraid of using colour and want something to give there usual bronzer shadows a little glimmer of colour
