FOUNDATION REVIEW; RIMMEL LONDON MATCH PERFECTING FOUNDATION

Finding the perfect foundation and formula is no easy task. With dozens of finishes and coverages to choose from I thought I’d share with you a recent discovery that has managed to leave a very lasting impression on us here at Maxmade.

Rimmel London has relaunched their iconic Match Perfection Foundation with a NEW and improved formula. A weightless, velvety finish foundation with a versatile coverage now goes beyond ‘matching’ with it’s wonder-tone technology. Designed to help us achieve a more flawless, hydrated, and youthful all-day wearing foundation at a high-street price.

The new formulation consists of soft focused powder to help blend across the skin’s surface, blurring any imperfections like pores, discolouration and bags. With added light absorbing pigments to attract and reflect light, skin looks brighter and more refined. To top things off Rimmel has added Vitamin E and a SPF 20 to protect and nourish the skin for an all-day wear!

As you can see from the image above I didn’t mess around when putting Rimmel’s new and improved Match Perfection Foundation to the test. What I loved about working with this liquid foundation was the coverage and the texture. My model had an ‘extreme’ combination skin, meaning the T-section of her face was extremely oily and the cheek and forehead area was extremely dehydrated and quite thick or porous in texture. To even skin texture and create the perfect canvas for my fountain to go down evenly, I firstly massaged Rimmel’s Fix & Protect SPF 25 Makeup Primer over the entire face and neck. Fix & Protect helps absorb and mattify unwanted shine throughout the day while soothing and brightening dull and dehydrated skin creating a more even complexion for your foundation application and wear!

The coverage is versatile in the sense I was able to build coverage through the T-section and around the chin where there was dis-coloration and light pigmentation, while being able to blend the foundation out to a finer coverage over the cheek and forehead area where less coverage is needed. Application Tip; I used my fingers in a dabbing motion to build the foundation and blended out with a large foundation brush when I needed less overage.

I love the versatility and finish of velvet finish foundation like Match Perfection Foundation! Like its matte foundation cousin, it blurs pores and rougher skin types while holding for a longer wear and like its dewy foundation cousins, it also brightens and hydrates the skin BUT most importunity gives you more flexibility in your finish! How so? Well take the above image for example. I highlighted all the high points of the face with Rimmel’s Magnif’eyes Mono Eyeshadow in Q-Jump (a metallic white-gold powder shadow) to lift and sculpt your facial-frame work and give a more Summery youthful glow without disturbing the wear or finish of the foundation! Brilliant right?

Yes I also what to know what you used on her eyes?

  3. Kate says:

Hi! Was just wondering what the best way is too keep the foundation, and in general makeup on during the day or on a night out without wearing? I’ve tried using setting powder but it always comes out looking thick and heavy on the face (especially during the day)! What should I do?

  4. max says:

Hi! Powder is generally what I use to build longevity! there are several reasons your foundation may appear thicker after you powder is you are applying too much? The other reason could be the powder you’re using is NOT milled fine enough or its NOT a setting powder which is finer than a Loose Powder. Let me know how you go xMM

Hi! Love your reviews on products etc! Have you done a list of top foundations as I would love to know your favourites?
I currently wear Estée Lauder double wear foundation but find it too matte, is there any really long lasting good coverage foundations you could suggest?

    Can’t wait to hear back!
    Thank you
