With a back drop of warm glistening light from the January sun bouncing off the waves of Bondi Beach, bikini babe Tash Oakley – dressed in old-school white high tops, cut off’s & 90’s tousled hair looking undeniable and totally at home! Taking on her 90’s Super Model alter-ego, Oakley is Maxmade’s February Cover Girl!
Known for her killer curves, effortless beach-waves, skin as golden as the sun, and most importantly for her love and search for the ultimate bikini. Travelling the world handpicking her ‘must-haves’, Oakley gets to play on the shores of some of the most exotic destinations, that most of us will only see in her pictures.
That aside, she is one of the kindest, quietly confident and dare I say, one of the naughtiest sense of humours I’ve come across in so many circles of the globe, I’ve actually lost count. On her last trip to Sydney I was lucky enough to pin her down for just long enough to capture her in this 90’s California, Super Model Style shoot and jot down a few of her must-have products & tips for you to enjoy.
WHATS THE FIRST THING YOU DO WHEN YOU WAKE UP IN THE MORNING?
The first thing I do is check my phone. I always have important or exciting emails coming from other time zones that I need to often get to ASAP. It’s important to check my social media and make sure the posts of the day are ready to go.
WHAT IS YOUR SIGNATURE MAKEUP LOOK?
It’s definitely a natural look. I use a small amount of NARS Bronzer in Luguna to contour and even skin-tone. I use a little YSL Touché Éclat in 2.5 under my eyes and over my cheekbones as a highlighter. If I have time I’ll blend a little Urban Decay Naked Basic Brown Eye Shadow around the lash line and finish with YSL Shocking Mascara. Burt’s Bee’s Tinted Lip Balm in Blush Orchid is a favorite too.
WHAT COLOR IS PAINTED ON YOUR TOES RIGHT NOW?
A coral color by OPI named Cajun Shrimp
WHAT IS THE BEST PIECE OF ADVICE YOU HAVE EVER RECEIVED?
That everything happens for a reason, positivity is the key to success and a happy life.
WHERE DO YOU PLACE YOUR PERFUME ON YOUR BODY?
My wrists and neck.
Subtle Winged Cat-Eye
WHAT IS THE BEST GIFT YOU HAVE EVER BEEN GIVEN?
My silver Corpus Christi Cuff from Paris, I never take it off, it’s one of my most valued possessions
WHAT DO YOU KEEP ON YOUR BEDSIDE TABLE?
A candle, a mirrored tissue box, a sleeping mask and a book
WHAT SONG ALWAYS MAKES YOU WANT TO DANCE?
Calabria 2007 by Enur ft. Natasja, it’s the ultimate work out/ dance song and I can never resist it!
WHAT IS THE GREATEST MAKEUP OR HAIR TIP YOU HAVE PICKED UP IN YOUR TRAVELS?
Actually the best make up tip I’ve been told recently in my travels was by you in Sydney! Before you taught me about the three points in the eyebrow to use whilst filling them, I was basically flying blind in the brow department. I still don’t do them as well as you, but I think I am slowly getting better! Also through my travels I have learnt to ALWAYS travel with my own shampoo and conditioner, never rely on the hotel or local stores like I did many times to find my hair dry and damaged at the end of my trip.
WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR MUST-HAVE TRAVEL BEAUTY ESSENTIALS?
A moisturizing tinted lip balm, Bare Minerals Escentuals Translucent Powder and Dermalogica SPF Tinted Moisturizer. I also always travel with Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse Golden Shimmer Dry Oil and The Body Shop’s Wild Argan Oil Body Butter. It’s all about skin hydration and protecting my skin when I travel!
WHAT BEAUTY SECRETS OR ADVICE HAS YOUR MOTHER GIVEN YOU?
My mother has impeccable taste and style, she has always given me great advice but something that has always stuck are the small things she taught me to be so important like having your nails manicured at all times and that less is more.
WHAT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT BEAUTY PRODUCT IN YOUR COSMETIC WARDROBE?
My Dermalogica Daily Sheer Tint spf20 Moisturizer! I don’t like to wear makeup on a regular basis, so it’s the perfect lightweight alternative. It’s a sheer tint that has a slight shimmer, which makes my skin glow with a spf20 for sun protection. Now that’s a product I won’t go a day without!
Be happy and live free!
3 Step Volume & Textured Hair (Opening image hair notes)
Step 1; Build volume and texture directly from the roots with Sachajuan Root Lift. To maximise volume and texture don’t over stretch the roots with a brush. Simply lift the hair using your fingers, section by section, and heat the product into the hair with the hairdryer.
Step 2; Using the large barrel on the H2D Curling Wand wrap the hair around the tong going away from the face on the heavier side of the part and towards the face on the other side. This technique will help lift the hair up and off the face where it sits heavier and give you a playful sexy texture that falls around the face on the other. Tip; Instead of using a hair spray or thermo spray to tong with, I used Sachajuan Texture Spray through the mid-lengths and ends. This helps build a weightless, gritty, texture that naturally improves hold within the hair.
Step 3; Once your hair has fully cooled, flip your head over and lightly rake your fingers through the hair breaking the hair up. Before you flip your head back up lightly spray with Oribe Aprés Beach Wave and Shine Spray to add hold and texture. Repeat on the top section raking the hair away from the face before spraying to finish.
Beauty Notes; Tash wears Becca Beach Tint in Hot Red on cheeks, MAC Casual Colour in Let It Loose. Wet Hair; To build a wet-look texture rake L’Oreal Wild Styler Scruff Me through damp hair from roots to ends.
