The colour of the Season at the recent S/S’15 shows was undoubtedly a shade of red when it came to perfecting the lips. Accessorised with heavenly highlights on the skin and luscious lashes – to make what can be a very classic look, feel young and fresh again. To celebrate the return of this romantic hue I have brought together a combination of my all-time favourites, along with a couple of more recent editions -to my ever growing palette of reds- for your enjoyment.
No need to take your lip brush out to top this deep, velvet-red, matte lip colour up. Makeup artist to the stars, Charlotte Tilbury has crafted the end of this lipstick to match the same shape of a lip brush to help define and perfect the lips of every girl on the go – and it works may I add!
A slightly transparent lip colour that contains a revolutionary patented skincare molecular that helps stop your lips from drying out! Dab it on with your fingers for a punchy-stain or layer it up over a matching lip pencil for more of a statement.
It’s true, I love an orange-red lipstick… and there is good reason for that. It simple looks good on everyone, no matter your skin colour, the Season or the occasion. Layer on top of a matching lip liner, I guarantee your skin and eyes will beam from the energy this lip colour holds.
When a classic red is in need, go no further than the queen of ‘classic colour’ Bobbi Brown. Candied Red is as true and romantic as the red of hearts herself. With a slight sheen to keep lips soft and plump, make sure you line your lips with a lip liner in a matching colour to give longevity and finish your lips with a professional edge. Tip; To give it a slightly modern edge, try softening the line of the lip with a cotton lip to make lips look soft and defused. It’s gong to be the hottest technique of the Season – you watch!
Technically a fuchsia lipstick but here with very good reason I assure you. Try mixing it with a primary red liner – I use Rimmel’s Lasting Finish 1000 Kisses Lip liner in Red Dynamite – to create a vibrant fuchsia-red lip colour. The result is a truly magnetic, matt, long wearing bold lip colour!
