As humble and down to earth as she is gorgeous, Brooke’s tall, lean figure and striking beauty spotted face is something reminiscent of a 90’s super model. Shooting on a surprisingly hot Autumn day Hogan takes the heat, the building crowd of onlookers and the toll of a super early start, all in her stride. Not breaking focus till every shot is safely in the bag it’s clear her professionalism, pride in her work and positive energy is her strength, not to mention a gift, one that clearly exudes from everything she does.
I think we will see a lot more of this face in the months and years to come. I know I for one will be watching carefully.
After our shoot I had the chance to sit down with Miss Hogan and talk about her beauty routine, hair health and what tips, tricks and techniques she has picked up along the way.
WHATS THE FIRST THING YOU DO WHEN YOU WAKE UP IN THE MORNING?
If I’m not shooting the first thing I would do when I wake up would be look at my phone and check my social media accounts & also my emails. Once I’ve gone through and checked everything I’d look at my schedule for the day to see what I have on! If I am shooting the first thing I do is get up and jump in the shower and get ready to go. In that case I’d catch up on my social media and emails whilst I’m in the Hair & Makeup chair.
WHAT IS YOUR SIGNATURE MAKEUP LOOK?
When I’m not working I try not to wear a lot of make up to give my skin a break. I love natural/minimal make up look. I don’t ever tan my face in the sun so my face is quite pale without makeup so I use NARS Laguna Bronzer to add a bit of colour and glow. If I am heading out and want some extra coverage I will apply some of my Giorgio Armani Luninous Silk Foundation -in #6. I always wear mascara no matter where or what I’m doing as it opens my eyes making me look more awake and engaging. Brows are really important for me, so I fill and shape them using an Hour Glass Brow Sculpting Pencil in soft Brunette. To finish I’ll chuck on some Maybeline Baby Lips Lip Balm! If I am having a bad day and have a pimple or two or if I’m feeling dark under the eyes I’ll use my YSL Touché Eclat Highlighting Concealer in #2 to brighten and cover.
WHAT COLOR IS PAINTED ON YOUR FINGERS & TOES RIGHT NOW?
I had a manicure and pedicure yesterday and I have Bubble Bath from OPI on both!
WHAT IS THE BEST PIECE OF ADVICE YOU HAVE EVER RECEIVED?
My mum always gives the best advice. Every time I am unsure about something or just need a chat, I call her. It’s hard to pin point one exact piece of advice because there has been so many but, a little while back she gave my best friend and I some advice which has stuck with me…
“Don’t complicate things or make things harder than they need to be. If you make a decision and your not happy with it, make another. If you go through with that decision and want to change your mind, change it and make another decision. Do whatever you want to do, life is too short to be unhappy”
WHO IS YOUR BEAUTY ICON AND WHY?
Candice Swanepoel would be my beauty icon. That body, that hair, that face…. Need I say more?
HOW DO YOU LOOK AFTER YOUR HAIR WITH THE STRESS OF THE DAY-TO-DAY STYLING IT IS PUT THROUGH FROM MODELING?
I have the team at Shibui hairdressers to thank for getting my hair to where it is. I had a hair disaster about a year and a half ago and they have done the best job in getting it back to the way it is now. At work my hair gets put under a lot of pressure from hot tongs and blow drying so I have to take extra good care to keep it healthy and strong. I use Goldwell Dual Senses ‘Blondes and Highlights Shampoo & their Dual Senses Green Pure Repair 60-Second Treatment Conditioner. It’s seriously THE BEST treatment I have ever used. It makes my hair so soft and shiny and smells so amazing. I have tried other conditioners and treatments in between but I always go back.
Every time I wash my hair I use a little serum called Snobgirl Bio-Serium Hydramend to help repair and protect from day-to-day work wear and tear on my hair. I get regular trims every 4-6 weeks and when I am not working I try and avoid using any heated tools when I style my hair. Once a week or once every 2 weeks (depending on my work schedule) I’ll do an intense Coconut Oil treatment that I’ll leave on over night.
WHAT DO YOU KEEP ON YOUR BEDSIDE TABLE?
On my bedside table there is a lamp, a bottle of water, Gone Girl the book – which I haven’t had time to start reading yet – AND Aesop’s Reverence Hand Balm!
WHAT SONG ALWAYS MAKES YOU WANT TO DANCE
Uptown funk – Bruno Mars. My housemates and I always put it on and it instantly gets us in a good mood!
WHAT IS THE GREATEST MAKEUP OR HAIR TIP YOU HAVE PICKED UP IN YOUR TRAVELS?
I have pick-up a lot of tips along the way. I love learning about makeup so every time I work with someone new I always check out their kit to see what products they have. One top tip I have learnt is to invest in a nice brush to apply foundation with and a brush cleaner to make sure your brushes are always clean. Also a white liner on the inner rim of your eye can make a world of difference if you are feeling tired.
WHEN YOU TRAVEL WHAT ARE YOUR MUST-HAVE BEAUTY ITEMS?
I always have to have face wipes/face wash & my Embryolisse Lait-Créme Concentré Moisturiser. Planes make my skin dehydrated so I always make sure I wash my face after I get off the plane!
WHAT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT BEAUTY PRODUCT IN YOUR COSMETIC WARDROBE AND WHY?
My Alpha H Daily Essential Moisturizer with spf 30
Flushed Cheeks & Stain Lips Beauty Credits
Step 1; To create even skin tone and give Brooke an all over glow I mixed 2 squirts of Giorgio Armani’s Fluid Sheer in (#3) Gold into Charlotte Tilbury Light Wonder Foundation (Click here for foundation review) before blending into the skin using my fingers. Tip; The warmth of your fingers help warm the products into the skin making the foundation and skin become one.
Step 2; Perfect Brows by brushing up with a Brow Comb before filling any gapes and extending the tail of the brow. I used L’Oreal Paris Color Riche Le Sourcils Eyebrow Pencil in Brown & Anastasia Beverley Hills Clear Brow Gel to hold in place.
Step 3; To give eyes a little shape and warmth I blended Tom Ford Creme Colour for Eyes in Brown over the lids as deep as the contour of the eye using the tip of my fingers in a dabbing motion. To finish, give lashes a good curl with your lash Curler – I use Shu Uemura Eyelash Curlers– before painting top and bottom lashes with Benefit Cosmetics Rollerlash Mascara.
Step 4; To Give Brooke’s cheeks that epic Summer sun kissed look in Autumn I blended Chanel Cream Blush in Presage across the top of her cheek bones and lips using my fingers.
To Finish… I’m a HUGE fan of a beauty spot and especially Brooke’s as they’re so perfectly placed. So when ever I have the chance I enhanced them using a dark brown ‘brow pencil!’ Note; Brow pencils are soft on the skin but won’t smudge like a eyeliner will. Tip; If you don’t have any beauty spots you can still use the same pencil to make your own!
