Tom Ford Traceless Foundation

I could be jumping the gun here a little but this could possibly be my new favorite foundation. It’s lightweight on the skin, allowing your skin texture to shine through and breathe. It also evens out skin tones and leaves the skin looking radiant and pretty much flawless.
Steer away from applying this foundation with a sponge, because the product is too fine and will be end up more in the sponge, than on your face.

I found using a foundation brush to first apply, and then using your fingers to warm the product into the skin is the best way to work this foundation. For any areas that need a little more attention, add a bit more product and work in with your fingers to build the coverage.

This foundation is all about having a ‘glow’ so only apply powder under your eyes , around your nose and in the middle of your forehead. Less is more, in this case.

I’m a sucker for packaging and in true Tom Ford style ‘Traceless foundation’ is super styling and looks the part! (In saying that, my lid has chipped – so handle with care)

L’Oreal Lumi Magique Foundation

I have to say I’m a little surprised with how good this foundation is. I’ve never been a fan of L’Oreal’s foundations – I’ve always found them either heavy, slightly oily or too dry.

However ‘Lumi Magique’ has made me eat my words: This foundation is completely the opposite! In fact, I would definitely say this foundation would be on par with a few higher-end brands’ foundations on the market, but  half the price-tag.

It’s got a medium to a full coverage that can be applied in many different ways. My favourite way to apply (so far) was to first use a sponge, aiming to get an even to light coverage on your skin in a dabbing motion. After that, I used my fingers to warm and even out any edges, and used bit more product on the areas needing more coverage.

It left a nice sheen on the skin, which my model actually commented on. A little powder around the nose and the centre of the forehead, and my base stayed as perfect as I applied it.

I’d highly recommend this for a dry skin, you’ll get a beautiful glow and good wear. For those with a combination skin I’d suggest applying like I did above, and touching up with a little powder around lunchtime to avoid any greasiness.

Next time I use this product, I would use with Shimmering Perfector by BECCA, or a little moisturiser mixed in next time just to lighten the coverage.

Maybelline Fit Foundation

I first tried this foundation on a girl with oily skin. The product glided on and sat effortlessly on the skin. It shot really lightly and didn’t look heavy or flat, in fact, there were some really beautiful, natural highlights without me even having to apply a luminiser.

There was no faulting the product at all that day and I have to say I was really excited by the result. In saying that, I tried it a few days later on a girl with a normal to dry skin type and I found it looked a little ashy.  I really had to work on it a few times through out the day with jojoba oil to perfect my look.

Ultimately, I think this foundation doesn’t work for girls with thick or dry skin. It’s more suitable for those with normal to oily skin – you will get great wear and coverage without having to wear a heavy /matt foundation.  .

Mac Mineralize Satin Finish Foundation

When it comes to Mac, for me, its all about Mac Face & Body, I live and die for the stuff. IT’S A MUST HAVE – CANT LIVE WITH OUT!

I don’t think I’ve ever met a make-up artist who doesn’t think the same as me – it’s a completely must-have in everyone’s kit. Over fashion week I had been told about Mac Mineralize Satin Foundation, so I thought I’d give it a go and see how it worked.

The coverage is a light to medium finish, and I thought the range of colours were completely spot-on. I have to say though, I did have trouble with the finish. You really need to make sure you prep the skin well, as it does go a little ashy on any dry or thicker-skinned areas.

Once I got that right, in true MAC style, the product came up beautifully in the shots. I chose to use it on a shoot I was doing that we wanted a movie-style, matte porcelain skin look and it totally signed sealed and delivered.

I would not recommend this foundation for those with dry skin. I’d definitely suggest this foundation for those with a combination to oily skin type.
