It’s the best selling hero foundation that is in every MUA’s kit: versatile, innovative and loved from the leader to the novice – here is why we’re all going mad for GA Beauty Luminous Silk.
You know a product hits fever pitch when it is sweeping endless celebrity feeds. However, it is only once it’s endorsed by the pros, that it becomes iconic and has ultimate kit staying power.
This is why I am obsessed, and will continue to be a lifelong aficionado of the Giorgio Armani Beauty Luminous Silk Foundation. Inspired by charmeuse silk, “The Fabric of Emperors,” this magnificent foundation glides on weightlessly for a flawless lit-from-within glow.
It is loved by everyone from Kim K West (and her MUA Mario), to my esteemed colleagues Pat Mcgrath and Charlotte Tilbury.
While some trends (like glitter lips), come and go, the power of a gorgeous foundation has the ability to elevate any other look and stroke that you place on your canvas.
As any MUA would attest, skin is EVERYTHING when it comes to creating a beautiful look, and even the most radiant to the most troubled of complexions need a little help.
So why is everyone going nuts for GA Luminous Silk? Well, Imma break it down.
It has a super-versatile coverage, which can be built up in areas that need extra coverage, or blended out where you want a lighter touch.
2. With 30 shades to choose from, this foundation is genuinely for every skin, and was the original leader in inclusivity and better colour range in makeup!
- Using exclusive Micro–fil™ technology to sculpt and brighten, this buildable coverage formula improves texture and blurs imperfections.
- I love the original radiant matte finish, which seriously reveals any woman’s inner light through looking so beautiful on the skin.
5. It is beginner-friendly: use a blender brush for a radiant, air-brushed effect for the sort of professional finish even the most makeup-challenged gals can muster.
- It’s adaptable:
At times, I like to alter the finish with the Fluid Sheer (a Liquid Luminizer that comes in 9 organza-inspired shades, from white gold to a deep bronzer and plum) to either warm up, cool down, add depth or intensify the radiance of every skin tone, while still maintaining that covetable hold factor the Luminous Silk matte foundation has. It’s genius!
For a stronger coverage or an amplified (yet still radiant) matte effect, I like using the Luminous Silk Compact (with 6 on-point shades to choose from) to set, add hold or even maximise the hold in some problem areas.
Like its liquid cousin, this magical powder is one of its kind and deserves a special mention. Many other brands have tried to copy its finish (much like the imitators of the Liquid Luminous Silk), but have ultimately come short – which is why the Giorgio Armani originals remain cult favourites within pro kits and on cosmetics floors.
Simply choose a shade similar to yours, apply with a large GA Beauty powder brush to set and add hold.
TIP 1: apply a sweep of the Luminous Silk Compact in a shade-to-two shades lighter than your foundation to set your concealer, blur imperfections and subtly highlight skin.
Or
TIP 2: apply the Luminous Silk Compact with the provided sponge applicator for stronger coverage and the ultimate luminous MATTE finish.
So now… drumroll…. for this delicious GA Luminous Silk look, my foolproof how to:
STEP 1: I used Luminous Silk Foundation in 4.5 and blended two squirts of Fluid Sheer in #1 (white gold shade) to improve radiance and brighten the natural highlights of the face when the sun hit the upper points of face.
STEP 2: To set and subtly highlight the skin, I used the Luminous Silk Compact in #1 under the eyes and across the top of the cheekbones, centre of the forehead, around the nostrils and centre of the chin. This technique will bring your complexion to life with a three-dimensional finish.
STEP 3: I love a really neutral eye to bring the focus back to the skin. For me GA Eyes To Kill Fatal Attraction palette in Mirage is king! It has all the neutral shades you need to open up the eye area while giving definition.
STEP 4: Block colour lips and cheeks are my new thing. I’ll generally choose a shade a little brighter to the natural tone of the lips to give a more natural, yet elevated finish. This technique really brings the focus back to the complexion. I used Rouge D’Armani Lipstick in (#102) Silenzio & Cheek Fabric #306 (soft flush peachy-pink) in the roses shot.
For the bath shots, I took the lips and cheeks a step further to really elevate the skin’s fairy winter tone, and used a deeper peach pink shade for the blush. On lips, I used the GA Rouge Ecstasy Lipstick in Brick & Cheek Fabric #506 to match!
STEP 5: I always finish with accentuating the brows and lashes to frame and lift the eyes. I used Armani High Precision Brow Pencil in #3 to fill in any gaps and brush the brow hairs up.
I love this bright youthful no-makeup-makeup look – and know you will too!
