You Heard It Here First: Why Pink Is The New Bronzer And How Exactly To Nail The Look

112 emails, 203 DMS (this actually blew my mind) and many many comments: here is one of my most requested makeup looks for 2017!

It’s the look that nearly blew my Instagram up with product request! Yes a few of your queries were hair related, and yes I am gong to cover, but in a video post soon to make it super easy to show you. you’re just going to have sit tight for that one. saying this, the bulk of your messages were about the makeup and how I created it, and to be honest I absolutely love that ‘cause it’s one of my favs too.

This look is so simple. In essence, it’s all about using one shade across all features, but with different textures and finishes. Pink is the colour du jour, and used correctly it really does enhance pretty much any skin tone and eye colour.

So here it is, your step-by-step cheat guide to recreating at home:

Step 1: I used Armani Luminous Silk Foundation to perfect Elyse’s skin, mixed in a 50/50 ratio with Laura Mercier’s Radiant Primer. Usually I would massage the Primer all over the skin first, but in this case, I wanted to thin out the coverage as Elyse’s skin is pretty flawless to begin with (no surprise), so this is the perfect way to do it.

Step 2: I then mixed the tiniest amount of Becca’s Under Eye Brightener with the number 3 shade of Charlotte Tilbury’s Retoucher (Concealer Pen) to get the ultimate brightening Concealer. Tip: the key is to blend it into the skin using your fingertips and take the excess out across the cheekbones. To finish, use a little Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder to set.

Step 3: From here, I like to fill the brows. The brows will help shape the face and eye area. I used Garbo & Kelly’s Brow Pomade in Cool Brown. An angled brush will perfect your brows and brush product through with more precision to thicken and shape your arches.

Step 4: This is one of the simplest shape-and-layer techniques to do for eyeshadow, focusing on colour without over-complicating the shape. I used NARS St. Paul De-Vence Duo Eyeshadow. I simply applied the matte colour from the lash line right up and into the contour and then along the bottom. I followed with the shimmer shadow which I blended into the inner corners of the eyes and centre of the lid.

To give the eye definition, I then smudged MACS Power Point Eye Pencil in Bountiful Brown through the top and bottom lash line. All you need to do from here is curl the lashes and apply mascara to both top and bottom. I used Armani Eyes to Kill Mascara!

Step 5: To contour, highlight and add colour, I simply used Nude By Nature Started Contour & Highlighter Collection. It comes in one simple compact and works on pretty much every skin tone. Tip: go easy on the contouring. This look is all about blush and highlighter!

Step 6: I can’t even begin to tell you how obsessed I am with this next lip-mix combo. Burberry Lip Contour in Fair No.01 is my base product, which I apply to the entire Lip. Lanolips Ointment in Nude is a sheer nude gloss (minus any stickiness) that I finish with just to give the lips a sheen without it looking over-glossy. Easy and striking every time!

There you have it, a super simple but forever chic tonal look. Would love to hear your feedback from trying this at home?

Special thanks as always to my Bae Elyes xxMM
