Why Organic Skincare is Trending So Hard Right Now (And What We Think You Should Use)

Organic skin care seems to be everywhere at the moment, but why?

We’ve gone for years with our seemingly good quality commercially made skincare routine, so what’s the hype over organic products like the Phyts organic foundaton that so many people are talking about?

As we wisen up about our lifestyle choices, the simple logic that it comes down to is – don’t put anything on your skin that you wouldn’t want to eat! Although we will always love our fail-safe, go-to’s that may or may not be organic, I wanted to showcase some organic products and show just how advanced the fastest growing category in skincare (organic/natural group) has become and what a brad range of skin types it covers – ie not just sensitive skin types.

If you suffer from skin issues like rosacea, acne, irritability, super dry, over active/oily, or simply crave to make the switch to something a little more natural, then there are now some hard-working, yet healthy brands I love on the market.

The most common problem that non-natural skincare can give my clients is inflammation, breakouts and puffiness. Using organic makeup means no chemicals will make their way to the skin, lessening the chance of irritation. Great news for those who don’t want to look like they’ve just splashed their face with red paint!

A lesser-known reason why organic skincare can be popular is that your skin can maintain a more stable functioning. Thus, a lot of natural skincare work with enzymes that work on softening the skin while keeping your skin at a more stable functioning rate decreasing sensitive or upsets!

Wanting to replenish your bathroom cabinet with some wholesome and delish picks? Here are my top picks to start you on your organic skin journey.

Edible Beauty – & Snowflower Illuminating Face Oil

This face oil is next level rich, nourishing, healing yet super light on the skin.  Illuminating 100% organic face oil containing a cocktail of unique wild crafted Australian active botanicals.

Snowflower Seed Oil and Kakadu Plum are abundant in vitamin C to boost collagen production and brighten the skin whilst Emu Apple Seed Oil has four times the antioxidants of Blueberries and natural waxes to nourish and rejuvenate the skin. Jojoba Seed Oil and Banksia Seed Oil reduce inflammation and encourage skin suppleness. Easily absorbed, leaving skin feeling plump and fresh, this illuminating oil is a must-have whether or not you are on the organic bandwagon!

The Ordinary 100% Organic Cold-Pressed Rosehip Oil

Beauty editors and models swear by the effects of regenerative effects of Rose Hip Oil. One of the best things to use on scars, early signs of ageing or simply to give your skin an extra boost. We’ve found this brand to give the best plump, boost and be absorbed by the skin. You won’t be disappointed!

Jurlique Rosewater Balancing Mist & Activating Water Essence

Winter or summer, a face balancing spray should always be handy in your kit. The light mist can assist in restoring balance to the skin after the gym, yoga, any activity that might leave you feeling a bit drained and complexion not sparkling. We find it super handy to use after a long computer work session – one spritz and you are revived, or if you are about to meet a hot man – a couple of sprays and you are radiating!

Ocinium Green Tea + Ginseng Facial Oil
I love this tailor made organic oil because it’s bio degradable, medical grade formula makes sense for the planet while looking chic on the shelf. It has potent anti-oxidant delivery with Vitamin C + E, Retinol, thus doing a great job at protecting the skin against free radicals associated with environmental ageing. Botanicals such as Rosehip Canina, Pomegranate, Papaya, E/O Citrus, Cedar Wood, Lavender, Palmarosa, Rose Otto andVanilla CO2 repair, refine and renew texture and tone. Tip: oils are fast penetrating, so a great way is to use them is after the shower to trap hydration under the skin. Just apply to wet skin and kiss dryness goodbye!

Aspects fruit Enzyme Mask

A cult favourite with beauty teams around the world, the Aspects Fruit Enzyme Mask will revolutionise the way you approach your beauty routine – we promise! This product is like gold, applying a pea-sized lump of the orange gel across your face, and you will literally feel the dead skin starting to flake away after 10 minutes.

Once removed, the Mask leaves a brighter, shinier and glowy looking freshness to the skin.

With a combination of aloe vera, papaya and pineapple extract, it’s also suitable for all skin types – including those with sensitive, reactive, or problem skin.

Special MentionNiugini Organics Raw 100% Organic Virgin Coconut oil

Yep, I’m totally on the bandwagon! Virgin, organic coconut oil is not only nourishing and affordable to smother on your skin and even through your hair, it’s also anti-bacterial – which means you can swish it around your mouth for cleaner, whiter teeth, soak your hair and slather your bod for after sun care and mix with it with a bit of honey for added anti-biotic qualities to treat all sorts of ailments.
